Imagine navigating an infinite number of parallel universes with the fate of the world hanging in balance. This is the premise of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s Everything Everywhere All at Once. Simultaneously tackling existential crises, identity questioning, love and the pursuit of meaning, Evelyn Wang, played by Michelle Yeoh, is seemingly living an unfulfilling life – her laundromat is failing, her husband Waymond, played by Ke Huy Quan, is nearing divorce, her relationship with her daughter Joy, played by Stephanie Hsu, is strained due to Joy’s relationship choices, and an upcoming IRS tax audit threatens their livelihood.
