Set in the 1920s American West, Killers of the Flower Moon is a gripping historical drama that exposes a dark and eerie chapter in the United States’ past. Based on the true-crime book of the same name by David Grann, the film delves into the infamous Osage Nation murders in Oklahoma. The story follows Ernest Burkhart, a ruthless and cunning outsider who marries into an Osage family and orchestrates a string of brutal crimes against them, targeting their lucrative oil-rich lands. As the FBI’s young agent, Tom White, begins to unravel the sinister plot, the true extent of the heinous crimes is slowly brought to light. Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film is a probing commentary on the exploitation and racism faced by Native Americans during that era.
